Sonrisa Hubbard
Sonrisa Hubbard is a dancer from Denver, US. Her dynamic journey into the world of dance began at a young age. Initially starting with gymnastics, Sonrisa discovered her passion for movement at the age of five and soon transitioned into dance.
She began her training at Cherry Creek Dance and Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Studio, before continuing with Denver School of the Arts. There she had the opportunity to hone her craft, performing self-choreographed solos and creating works for her peers. Sonrisa furthered her education at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music, where she was awarded a merit scholarship to join the BFA Dance program. During her time at the Conservatory, she performed in renowned works such as Lift by Aszure Barton, D-Man in the Waters by Bill T. Jones, Threadbare by Andrew Skeels.
Her experiences at the Conservatory extended beyond the stage, as she starred in independent dance films based in New York, further broadening her artistic expression. Sonrisa has participated in several international dance intensives including, Orsolina 28, The Juilliard Summer Intensive, Arts Umbrella Summer Intensive, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Summer Intensive, and Dart Dance Company Winter Intensive. These opportunities have allowed her to study the works of choreographers such as Crystal Pite, Sharon Eyal, Dwight Rhoden, Marco Goecke, Peter Chu, Jirí Pokorný, Jirí Kylián, and Ohad Naharin, deepening her understanding of contemporary dance. In the summer of 2024, Sonrisa performed in a guest artist piece at the Young Choreographers Festival in New York, expanding her performance repertoire.
