Alicia Merz
Alicia Merz is a poet and singer-songwriter from New Zealand. She founded solo music project, Birds of Passage in 2010. She has released five solo albums with German based Denovali Records and has appeared on many more with collaborators. She was raised in a musical family but had only a childhood education in piano before a love of literature and poetry captured her and led her to writing her own poetry and music. Following the release of the Birds of Passage debut album Without the World in 2010, this elusive performer toured to the UK, Germany, Poland, Austria and New Zealand. Described as creating minimalist, ambient, experimental soundscapes, Alicia is inspired by her memories, the changing seasons, poetry, Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, Arvo Pärt and Gorecki. Alicia is a mother of two.
