Australian dancers are known as some of the hardest working in the world, due in no small part to the sheer exertion required to tour our vast continent. Dipping into a typical Sydney Dance touring schedule from 1970 reveals legions about the company’s grit, attack and stamina.
In 18 weeks the company performed 93 shows, traversing Albury, Ardlethan, Armidale, Auburn, Balgowlah, Ballina, Balranad, Bass Hill, Bathurst, Batlow, Bega, Bellevue Hill, Belmont, Berkeley, Beverly Hills, Bexley, Blakehurst, Bonnyrigg, Broken Hill, Brookvale, Cabramatta, Carlingford, Chatham, Cheltenham, Coffs Harbour,Cooma, Coonabarabran, Cowra, Cremorne, Cronulla, Dapto, Deniliquin, Dubbo, Erina, Fairfield, Finley, Forbes, Frenchs Forest, Glen Innes, Gloucester, Goulburn, Grafton, Grenfell, Gunnedah, Hay, Holbrook, Kirribilli, Lismore, Maroubra, Mascot, Merrylands, Mildura, Miranda, Mosman, Moss Vale, Murrumburrah, Murwillumbah, Narrabeen, Narrabri, Newcastle, Normanhurst, North Sydney, Nowra, Orange, Penshurst, Parkes, Parramatta, Port Kembla, Pymble, Revesby, Ryde, Springwood, Sydney, Taree, Temora, Tumut, Vaucluse, Wagga Wagga, Wahroonga, Wallsend, Waverley, Wentworth, Willoughby, Wollongong, Wyong, Young.
