In 2019 Sydney Dance Company is excited to welcome six new dancers who will be joining the Company and gracing the stage this year!
Australian dancer Mia Thompson is joining Sydney Dance Company after performing as a First Artist at The Scottish Ballet for 3 years. Prior to that, Mia was a dancer with the Queensland Ballet and the West Australian Ballet. Mia studied at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
Dimitri Kleioris trained at the Australian Ballet School and the McDonald College. Most recently, Dimitri performed as a Guest Artist in The Australian Ballet’s Spartacus. Before that, he was the Lead Male Dancer with the Royal New Zealand Ballet. Dimitri has also performed in stage productions such as; the lead role in An American in Paris on Broadway (US), Death in Venice with Opera Australia, Move the Company with Joyce Season/Fire Island Dance Festival (US) and The Watermill Centre Gala performance (US). Dimitri appeared as a series regular in the US TV series, Flesh & Bone and in the film High Strung: Free Dance.
Riley Fitzgerald studied at the New Zealand School of Dance after attending the Victorian College of the Arts. This is Riley’s first time with a professional company.
Liam Green was a Corps de Ballet with the West Australian Ballet for four and a half years before being promoted to Demi Soloist for a year. Liam has trained with Dynamic Performing Arts and The Graduate College of Dance. At 15, Liam was accepted into the Advanced Diploma of Dance at West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), being the youngest to enter into the program. In his spare time Liam has been studying a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance and Economics, at The University of Western Australia.
Luke Hayward is from Alice Springs and trained at the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy and Studio Tibor in Sydney. In 2016 Luke graduated with honors from the Palucca Hochschule fur Tanz Dresden in Dresden, Germany. Luke was offered internships at CCN Rillieux-la-pape (Centre Chorégraphique National de Rillieux-la-pape) in France and Balet Moskva in Russia as he finished his studies. On graduating, Luke joined Balet Moskva as a Soloist in both the ballet troupe and the contemporary troupe within the Company.
Alexander Borg studied with Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year class of 2018 and has been offered a Trainee Contract with the Company. Alexander attended the Newtown High School of Performing Arts in Sydney.
These new Company dancers will join Sydney Dance Company’s existing Company dancers; Ariella Casu, Charmene Yap, Chloe Leong, Chloe Young, Davide Di Giovanni, Emily Seymour, Holly Doyle, Jacapo Grabar, Janessa Dufty, Jesse Scales, Juliette Barton and Victor Zarallo.
