Sarah Blasko
Singer-songwriter Sarah Blasko is recognised as one of Australia’s leading music artists, having carved her own path within the industry. Consistently pushing creative boundaries, her latest self-produced album I Awake has been described as a “masterpiece” from Rolling Stone and “brilliant intense and intimate” by The West Australian.
She has received numerous accolades for her three platinum-selling works The Overture & the Underscore, What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have and As Day Follows Night, having received 14 ARIA Award nominations, including wins for Best Pop Album and Best Female Artist along with Triple J’s 2009 J Award for Australian Album of The Year. In 2008 Sarah wrote the score for Bell Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
Sarah released her fourth studio album entitled I Awake in October 2012. Recorded in Stockholm, Sweden, Blasko took on the role of producer for the album. Blasko then steered the production temporarily to Bulgaria, inviting their Symphony Orchestra to record with her for I Awake.
Sarah has toured extensively in Australia, as well as the US, Canada, Asia and Europe. In February 2013 Sarah embarked on a tour of Australia, accompanied by a different orchestra in every city that she visited.
Sydney Dance Company commissioned Sarah Blasko and composer Nick Wales to create the soundtrack for Rafael Bonachela’s work Emergence.
