Jordan Askill
Jordan Askill was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. In 2000 he travelled to London where he was an intern with Alexander McQueen and then became a designer for Australian brand Ksubi. In 2004, Askill was invited to join the team at Dior Homme in Paris. After leaving Paris for London, Askill developed his own ready-to-wear sculpture and jewellery range, showcasing it in the Rick Owen’s Store in Paris and Dover Street Market in London.
Askill launched his collection at London Fashion Week in 2010. His conceptual and sculptural approach received much critical acclaim and he won numerous awards including an Elle style award. During his time in London, Askill was also involved with the British Council’s Rock Vault exhibitions and his cult following continued to grow.
Jordan Askill has researched and developed his own hyper-real, highly conceptual, yet beautifully wearable jewelry collection. Working on objet d’art, he depicts movement captured in time and emotionally rich symbols. His jewelry construction honors methods of the past and marries them with the future, using 3D printing and hand carved crystal.
Jordan’s other passion is creating sculptures, which accompany his jewelry collections. The sculptures, also created via 3D printing have resulted in objects that are at once organic in shape and archetypal, yet with their foundations firmly planted in the 21st Century. These sculptures have been internationally recognized and in 2014 resulted in invitations to exhibit at the Museum of London and at the World Chess Hall of Fame in St Louis, where his work was showcased at the A Queen Within: Adorned Archetypes, Fashion and Chess exhibition. In February of that year, he was also invited to the Inhorgenta International Jewelry Fair in Munich, where he was a guest speaker talking on the application of 3D printing in his creations.
Jordan also collaborates frequently with his brothers Daniel and Lorin Askill art directing and developing short films and video installations. Askill now resides in New York.
Jordan collaborated with Sydney Dance Company in 2010 for Adam Linder’s Are We That We Are which premiered as part of the New Creations 1 season, designing the costumes and jewellery.
